The Legal Project Clerk is responsible for providing documentation and staff support services to lawyers, paralegals or other timekeepers. The Legal Project Clerk is not a timekeeper. Compensation Salary $42,000 - $64,000 The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Lawyers, administrative staff and legal support staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Review correspondence for reporting to clients
• Proof-read and check received communications for accuracy
• Compile department related documents
• Retrieve documents from court files, libraries or other public agencies
• Attend and assist with document productions
• Prepare and maintain department records and reports
• Prepare transmittal letters and maintain a chronological file
• Preparing large mailings and assist with court filings
• Prepare online searches and filings
• Acts as liaison between departments (office services, central records, etc.)
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
• Create and maintain case files; indexing and organizing documents, coding, data entry and searches
• Prepare docket and status reports
• Assist with hearing or trial exhibit preparation, including illustrative exhibits, proof quotes in briefs and memoranda
• Maintain status log of transcripts
• Maintain Corporate Records, Minute Books, Closing Books and status log of transcripts
• Prepare and file Annual Reports and Annual Resolutions; including review of monthly reminder checklist
• Process invoices and works with Accounting on billing and payments
• Assist with special projects as directed
EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year professional level work experience
• Previous experience in a client service oriented field preferred
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational ability, attention to detail, analytical skills and initiative
• Ability to organize, prioritize assignments and produce high volume of work quickly and accurately
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Able to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity and sensitivity
ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Be personable, articulate, knowledgeable and professional in presenting oneself in a professional setting
• Willingness and ability to learn new skills
• Ability to function with a high level of patience, tact and diplomacy in handling any “complaint” situations
• Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and/or sit for an extended period of time
• Manual dexterity required for operating office machinery (phone, copy machines, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft products pertaining to the specific position including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel, etc.
• Reading, writing and arithmetic skills required
• Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences and able to speak clearly to listeners, and understand, identify and understand the speech of another person
• Strong initiative required, ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, demonstrated ability to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the firm, mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor, and effectively manage and communicate confidential issues
