K&L Gates LLP has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Regional Manager of Legal Recruiting to join our Firmwide legal talent acquisition team. Under the direction of the Firmwide Director of Legal Recruiting, this position will have responsibility for managing all aspects of entry level, lateral associate and lateral partner recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and associate integration for the Firm’s four offices in Texas.  In addition to these local office responsibilities, this position will also work with other Talent professionals on various Firmwide team initiatives. This role can be resident in any of the Firm’s Texas offices - Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth or Houston - and periodic travel among the offices is expected.   

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment process for law students, summer associates and lateral associates, including:
    • Developing and executing strategies for law student engagement at key feeder schools
    • Developing and executing strategies for lateral candidate sourcing and search firm relationships in the relevant Texas markets
    • Functioning as office contact with outside organizations and vendors relevant to the recruitment process
    • Managing all aspects of summer associate programs
    • Working closely with office and practice area leaders, utilize online and internal strategic activities to source lateral associate candidates
    • Overseeing application screening, processing and candidate communication
    • Candidate tracking, interview scheduling and travel/accommodation coordination
    • Maintaining candidate files for reporting and validation purposes
    • Managing pre-employment offer and hiring process
  • Work with office leadership and Firmwide lateral partner recruiting team to manage lateral partner candidates for Texas offices
  • Manage orientation and on-boarding of all law student, entry-level, lateral associate and partner new hires in Texas offices
  • Manage lateral associate integration for new Texas associate hires
  • Other responsibilities, including:
    • Supervising, managing, mentoring, training, and evaluating one remote coordinator and local resources.  Foster a positive working environment and structure for the legal recruiting department that promotes productivity, responsiveness, local and cross-office teamwork, high staff morale, and professional excellence.
    • Collaborating with the Legal Recruiting Managers across the firm to plan strategically and identify ways to improve processes and procedures
    • Monitoring local markets and staying informed with current market trends and law firm news
    • Providing strategic advice on hiring to offices when necessary
    • Assisting with local interview training for all lawyers
    • Recruitment budget preparation and monitoring
    • Actively participating in talent acquisition and other general networking opportunities, including speaking and writing articles for industry seminars and publications. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • A 4-year, accredited college degree
  • Minimum 5-7 years professional services recruiting experience required, with experience in lawyer recruitment preferred; management experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgment, proven leadership capabilities, a professional and friendly demeanor, a commitment to confidentiality, and strong professional and ethical standards
  • Highly motivated, creative problem solver, flexible, results-oriented and possess the ability to work independently under pressure with demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work well with all levels of firm personnel and establish effective working relationships throughout the firm
  • Proven ability to persuade and influence professionals to try new approaches and drive progress
  • Demonstrated success in managing and delivering programs and executing tasks associated with large projects and functions
  • Strong work ethic combined with the qualities of being smart, a quick study, and a desire to work in an intellectually challenging and team-oriented culture
  • Strong organizational, administrative and word processing skills
  • Experience with special event planning
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficiency with applicant data tracking software, preferably PeopleSoft Recruit Workforce
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule that will frequently require travel among the three offices in the region, extended hours and periodic weekend work
