We are seeking an e-DAT Lawyer V to join the Raleigh office. The e-Discovery Lawyer V position requires a licensed attorney who will be responsible for  work on a variety of discovery, litigation and practice support matters, as well as other business and practice group development projects as needed.  Responsibilities include assisting staff lawyers in the training and supervision of document review teams; providing dedicated, project-specific support on an as needed basis; reviewing documents for various purposes, including production and litigation support; research and writing projects regarding various discovery, records management and related issues; assisting with the preparation of responses to Requests for Proposals; and participating in the marketing and business development efforts of the practice group.  The e-Discovery Lawyer V works under the supervision of an e-Discovery staff lawyer, associate and/or partner in the firm.  This is an exempt position. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred.


KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Partner, Associate or Supervising eDiscovery Staff Attorney

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Work to support partners and associates with legal research and writing projects
• Work to support partners and associates on records management and litigation readiness projects
• Manage and take responsibility for work flow and meeting all deadlines
• Assist e-Discovery Staff Lawyers with the preparation of background, case material and decision logs in preparation to being document review projects
• Assist e-Discovery Staff Lawyers in training document review teams regarding case specific review guidelines
• Proactively identify areas for improvement, develop plans to address them, and follow through to implementation
• Continue to identify content and draft and/or edit summaries for the practice group blog, www.ediscoverylaw.com, and other outward facing content
• Attend project meetings, including client meetings
• Perform special projects as requested

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
• Bachelors Degree required
• J.D. from an accredited law school required
• Minimum 2 years experience on document review teams, or similar experience
• Extensive knowledge of electronic discovery case law and applicable rules of procedure (state and federal)
• Proficient knowledge of the document review process, including the Electronic Discovery Reference Model
• Excellent leadership ability, communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent research and writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a member of a team
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and to prioritize effectively
• Proactive, with keen ability to issue-spot and problem solve
• Ability to be flexible with respect to case/project needs and deadlines
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and time pressures and to meet deadlines
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Admission in good standing North Carolina Bar Association

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Currently employed with K&L Gates as an e-Discovery III or e-Discovery IV Lawyer
• Or equivalent experience and/or training in e-Discovery.
• Legal Project Management certification is a plus, but not required.
