The Legal Project Clerk is responsible for providing documentation and staff support services to lawyers, paralegals or other timekeepers. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. Lawyers, administrative staff and legal support staff.
• Submit new client requests to New Business Intake and track through approval
• Submit file change requests
• Follow-up with clients who have not signed our engagement letter
• Track receipt of retainers required in engagement letters
• Proof of all final invoices (approximate 425/month); each invoice needs to be audited from Accounting against the revisions marked on the proformas
• Send client invoices to about 100 clients on an ongoing basis
• Assist with special projects as directed
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year professional level work experience
• Previous experience in a client service oriented field preferred
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational ability, attention to detail, analytical skills and initiative
• Ability to organize, prioritize assignments and produce high volume of work quickly and accurately
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Able to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity and sensitivity
• Be personable, articulate, knowledgeable and professional in presenting oneself in a professional setting
• Willingness and ability to learn new skills
• Ability to function with a high level of patience, tact and diplomacy in handling any “complaint” situations
• Working knowledge of Microsoft products pertaining to the specific position including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel, etc.
• Reading, writing and arithmetic skills required
• Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences and able to speak clearly to listeners, and understand, identify and understand the speech of another person
• Strong initiative required, ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
