The global law firm of K&L Gates LLP has an immediate need for a part-time Events Coordinator to join our San Francisco office.  The Events Coordinator will be responsible for the organization and execution of internal and external events for the office, including seminars, corporate hospitality activities, receptions, and other related initiatives.  Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Proactively highlight opportunities that are of potential interest to individual lawyers and practice groups for business development
• Engage in event project management and concept development, including planning, site selection, tracking expenses, mailing list compilation, invitation production and liaising with key providers such as vendors and caterers
• Work with the Business Development and Marketing teams to assess the merits of proposals to host events
• Establish an effective return on investment and pre- and post-event appraisal
• Act as the liaison to associations that the firm has memberships with in order to take full advantage of the opportunities they offer
• Assist with the selection of target audience and appropriate event format
• Monitor and circulate acceptance and attendance notes, organize debriefs, and identify follow-up opportunities for business development purposes and next steps
• Provide on-the-day support and attend events to ensure that they are executed professionally and effectively
• Maintain an office events schedule and ensure it is communicated to key stakeholders on a regular basis
• Flexibility and willingness to undertake other business development and marketing support activities as business requires

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
• BA/BS degree preferred with prior event planning experience in a professional services or large corporate environment
• Previous professional services, marketing, and client/customer-service oriented experience
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with demonstrated client service orientation
• Excellent project management, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines
• Proven high level of attention to detail and meticulous follow-through
• High level of business maturity and the confidence necessary to interact with firm lawyers, as well as experience influencing and persuading senior individuals
• Demonstrated ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity, and sensitivity
• Team player who is flexible, enthusiastic, and has a positive/can-do attitude
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and CRM database programs
• Ability to adjust work schedule from time-to-time according to workload demands and/or planned events outside of core hours
