The Paralegal supports lawyers, performing a variety of functions that may include factual research, document analysis, drafting real estate documents, coordinating title searches, performing title, survey, and zoning review and analysis, all as directed by the supervising lawyers. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. KEY RELATIONSHIPS ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Conducts full title searches and title updates for North Carolina land and lot acquisitions for active homebuilder and other clients • Draft title insurance certifications and coordinate with title insurance underwriters for issuance of title commitment and policies • Review title insurance commitments and policies and provide comments to attorney and title insurance underwriters • Review ALTA Surveys and provide comments to attorneys and surveyors • Manage closing and title files for land and lot acquisitions • Manage correspondence related to trust account disbursements and assist with trust account reconciliation • Prepare and review legal descriptions, including use of deed plotter software • Manage e-recording of real estate documents for Raleigh office • Draft North Carolina related title and closing documents • Maintains all administrative standards set by the firm, including the preparation and submittal of daily time entries, attendance at administrative meetings, and other administrative tasks as assigned EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED Compensation Salary $75,000-125,000 The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. Supervising partner(s), practice group chairs, and lawyers; Director of Administration; Firmwide Director of Paralegals; Paralegal Manager; paralegals, clients, local County recording offices and title insurance companies.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience in the legal field
• Working understanding of the legal terminology specific to the practice group; specifically, experience with title companies
• Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to be trained on specific practice group technology
• In addition to the qualities and skills discussed above, candidates for “practice area specific” positions require certain specific educational credentials and skills. These candidates are expected to have academic expertise in the practice area of interest as well as the generic skills previously described.
• This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment. The ability to open file cabinets, lift files, bend, and stand on a stool may also be required.
