Responsible for serving as the team lead and subject matter expert for the network team of K&L Gates. Accountable for the evaluation, design, development, implementation and operation of networking technology used to support the Firm’s business needs. Technical responsibility extends to all offices of the firm and may require travel to any or all offices. The team lead will assess support incidents and assign network engineers work tasks, manage incident resolution workflow, track status and provide input to the Manager of Enterprise Networking and Collaboration in evaluating employee performance. The team lead will function as the point of contact for network project work and assign work to engineers as necessary. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. •Design, implement and operate KLG network infrastructure to ensure that systems achieve maximum uptime & operational availability 24/7/365
•Provides technical and managerial coaching and feedback to direct reports
•Provide training and mentoring on problem identification, analysis and troubleshooting techniques and best practices to the network teams and other infrastructure teams
•Responsible for delegation of team tasks and projects to ensure organizational goals are met
•Demonstrate diplomacy, team work, negotiation, collaboration, and creativity to solve problems related to system design and functionality
•Communicate overall group status, including daily operational items and team project status to management
•Participate in making decisions and determining actions independently and expediently to eliminate risks and ensure the continuity of business.
•Analyze, plan, test, and implementation of the network infrastructure, including associated disaster recovery processes and procedures
•Determine and decide when to escalate problems to vendors and ensuring resolution and reporting of resolution to stakeholders
•Perform root cause analysis on systems issues and determine recommended solutions to resolve problems
•Maintain documentation of network standards, processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides and change management logs
•Coordinate the on-call and time off schedules of direct reports in order to maximize service
•Work as lead technical resource on project teams to specify solutions that meet project requirements
•Develop and maintain close relationships with all technology partners
•Actively pursue new technologies to improve effectiveness and efficiency of firm systems
•Able to support a 24/7 environment and work flexible hours as necessary.
Experience & Skills Required
•10+ years in IT
•7+ years in an operational and/or design based network environment
•Prior supervisory experience in a similar role
•Strong layer 2-3 network skills and troubleshooting skills
•Wide Area Network transports including MPLS
•Firewall (preferably Cisco ASA)
•Client and site to site VPN
•Enterprise class routing protocols BGP, OSPF
•Converged networks carrying voice, video and data
•Traffic prioritization, including Class of Service and QoS
•Cisco router, switching and wireless hardware technologies
•Network monitoring and reporting tools
•Network troubleshooting, Monitoring and Application tools (WireShark, SolarWinds)
•Knowledge of WAN/LAN traffic requirements for a MS Windows based applications environment
•Disaster recovery, Monitoring and Operations disciplines
•Ability to grasp new technology concepts quickly and assist others in understanding them as well.
