We are seeking to hire a Patent Agent to join the Intellectual Property practice in our Pittsburgh office.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and must have a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degree from an accredited university.  Experience as a Chemist or Chemical engineer is preferred but not required. The candidate will preferably be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to: preparing invention disclosure documents, patent applications, responses to office actions and other patent prosecution related materials; obtaining copies of and analyzing scientific and technical documents and publications; managing a patent prosecution docket such that all deadlines are met; reviewing technical disclosures to assist with drafting patent applications;  keeping up to date with legal developments in the intellectual property field; and reviewing of draft documents for accuracy and clarity.  

Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We require strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing the most responsive and highest quality client service. Candidates will work closely with experienced lawyers in our highly-regarded Pittsburgh Intellectual Property practice who will provide active mentoring and opportunities to assume increasing levels of responsibility, including direct client contact, and to also participate in matters generated by our national and global platforms.
