The global law firm of K&L Gates LLP is seeking a self-starting, experienced Trademark Paralegal to join its fast-paced, collegial team handling global trademark portfolios and conducting trademark searches. The Trademark Paralegal will support the Austin office Trademark/IP groups.

Handle US and Foreign Trademark Matters, including:

  • Conduct and review preliminary trademark searches and prepare summaries for attorney review
  • Experience with searching using Saegis preferred
  • Prepare trademark status summary reports and deadline reports
  • Manage attorney dockets and send internal reminders about deadlines
  • Prepare and file extension requests, statements of use, declarations of use and incontestability, renewal applications
  • Prepare responses to non-substantive Office Actions
  • Prepare and record assignments and other transfers in ownership and name changes
  • Prepare and file notices of appeal, requests for extensions to oppose, notices of opposition and cancellations and other documents with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board; manage case files
  • Prepare foreign filing cost estimates
  • Compile documentation required for foreign filings
  • Correspond with foreign associates on filing and prosecuting applications and renewing registrations
  • Prepare and/or obtain documents for legalization
  • Assist with recording trademarks with Customs and Border Protection

Handle Domain Name Matters:

  • Assist with registration, maintenance and transfer of domain names

Handle Copyright Matters:

  • Prepare and file copyright applications
  • Prepare requests to record documents with the Copyright Office

Experience Required:

  • 7+ years of Trademark/IP Paralegal experience
