The global law firm of K&L Gates LLP is seeking a Business Solutions Analyst to join the Pittsburgh office. The Business Solutions Analyst is responsible for working closely with the practice groups and administrative departments to analyze business problems and identify opportunities to better support the needs of the firm. The Analyst will typically work with stakeholders to understand and document existing business processes, gather requirements, model “to-be” processes, identify alternatives, and recommend appropriate business solutions enabled by technology. The Analyst is primarily responsible for understanding and validating customer requirements; for ensuring that the requirements are appropriately documented and clearly communicated to both technical and non-technical staff; and for tracking requirements during software development (or product implementation) to ensure that the final system or process delivers the stated requirements. Types of project assignments may include software development, package selection, and business process review. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. The daily make up of tasks changes depending on department needs.
•Consult with K&L Gates lawyers, staff and clients on technology use and benefits
•Act as a relationship manager with the practice groups and administrative department heads
•Participate in leadership, project management and team roles on knowledge management and business application initiatives
•Manage entire requirements gathering process – collect, review, analyze, evaluate, prioritize and document business requirements
•Lead the analysis, design and execution of changes to existing business and organizational processes
•Create business process documentation, include process flow diagrams and as-is/to-be analysis and mapping
•Support project intake by identifying opportunities and documenting the business case for potential projects
•Assist technical staff with translating business and functional requirements into system design documentation
•Lead quality assurance and testing efforts – create test plans/scripts, and conduct functional testing
•Participate in product evaluations to identify software and technology that best meets business needs
•Act as a liaison between functional and technical staff
•Tailor communications as appropriate for various audiences
•Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, project sponsors and peers
•Report status and issues to the Business Solutions Manager and Project Manager(s)
•Understand and interact according to the norms and practices of the organizational culture
•Thoughtful and analytical approach

•Experience with full software development lifecycle desired
•5-7 years of IT business analyst experience, previous law firm experience desired
•BA/BS in related field or equivalent four year degree from a college or university
