POSITION SUMMARY
A senior level biller who is responsible for reviewing, editing, preparing, and submitting invoices in accordance with firm and client guidelines for each assigned office.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Internally, responsible for communicating with timekeepers, other local billing groups, firmwide Accounting/Finance, legal secretaries, and administrative support staff.  Externally, responsible for working with vendors and responding to client inquiries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Generate monthly invoices to begin review process
• Audit, review, and reconcile invoices per billing guidelines
• Complete quality control for all department processes (invoices, reporting, etc.)
• Perform a reconciliation on invoices accounting for any adjustments and ensuring proper supporting documentation for audit purposes
• Respond to internal clients regarding billing issues
• Continually evaluate opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness when resolving issues
• Research and recommend corrections to invoices based on current client activity
• Review invoices to ensure time is being billed to the correct client matter and make necessary revisions
• Prepare and validate backup for vendor invoices per client
• Update invoices to reflect any approved changes or corrections
• Proofread edits within the accounting systems to confirm accuracy
• Create final invoice and supporting documentation per client’s request (hard copy, digital, and/or electronic)
• Prepare ad-hoc reports for internal and external clients, allocating invoices per each client’s specific requirements
• Maintain client reports and databases based on each client’s specific requirements
• Facilitate training of existing and new staff regarding all aspects of the billing process
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
• Coordinate with internal clients to ensure proper format setup for new clients
• Coordinate special projects as assigned by supervisor and/or lawyers

EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with clients, vendors, and/or customers
• Working knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel
• Prior experience in a billing or accounting department working with an automated accounting or billing system
• Prior experience coordinating an entire billing cycle
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all firm- and client-related information
• Ability to multi-task, work independently, work under pressure, and handle interruptions while maintaining flexibility in work assignments
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact with diverse personalities while maintaining a professional attitude
• Ability to ensure a high level of accuracy and attention to detail on all assignments

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Frequent overtime required
• This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment.  The ability to open file cabinets, lift files, bend, and stand on a stool may also be required.
