The e-DAT Analyst I is responsible for providing litigation technology support to the firm’s lawyers, paralegals, and support staff. This includes database design, preparation, and maintenance; preparation of electronic data exchanges and document productions; data conversion and manipulation; reorganization and categorization of case project data on the firm’s network; and end user support. This position is directed by the e-DAT Team Leads, the e-DAT Litigation Support Manager, and the e-DAT Director. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred. e-DAT management team, partners, and staff lawyers, as well as lawyers, paralegals, and support staff across the firm
• Provide daily operational support and administration of Ringtail 8 litigation databases as well as other support tools, including Concordance, LAW PreDiscovery, and Case Notebook (LiveNote). This includes assisting end users with searching and other database functions as well as data loading and maintenance. Attend trainings on these and other applications as directed.
• Verify data integrity and apply quality control checks when performing data imports and exports, case productions, and database reports or logs
• Troubleshoot general database and data problems and work with the case team and the e-DAT Team Lead to resolve
• Assist the case teams as needed with electronic document productions, including the preparation of CDs/DVDs, batch printing, and loading and extraction of data to and from external hard drives
• Maintain centralized records of case project data
• Communicate with case teams and litigation support teams regarding work flow, problems, issues, and resolutions
• Provide one-on-one end user support and litigation technology assistance for routine questions. May train users and assist with the preparation of training material.
• Provide support to clients using both the K&L Gates internal legal hold and BIA’s Total Discovery tool, including:
o Set up Legal Retention and Hold databases for specific clients and cases
o Track information regarding cases under legal hold and keep all information up-to-date as to legal hold status
o Accurately and promptly notify individuals when legal holds are implemented or the status of a legal hold changes
o Accurately and promptly update legal hold databases when the status of an individual or case under legal hold changes
• Coordinate the preservation of data for legal holds associated with claims, litigation, and investigations
• Manage the initiation of all legal holds including the sending, tracking and any follow-up required
• Manage legal hold reminders and coordinate the sending, tracking, and follow-up to all reminders
• Quality checks all legal holds, reminders, and other communications for accuracy and readability, including:
o Respond promptly to questions from legal hold recipients
o Report any difficulty with legal hold recipients to attorneys or client issuing the legal hold
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and work closely with IT and other technical support staff to resolve technical issues with either the K&L Gates internal legal hold tool or BIA’s Total Discovery tool
• Manage all Retention and Legal Hold databases and work closely with clients and other staff for the duration of legal holds
• Provide accurate and timely reports on the status of legal holds, cases, and individuals on a periodic basis and upon request
• Assist with other relevant projects as needed
• Participate in learning and knowledge-sharing activities such as team meetings and training programs
• Promote internal client awareness of the e-DAT practice group’s value and offerings
• Demonstrate ability to use the firm’s standard technology applications
• Maintain current knowledge and skills
• Anticipate, plan, and prioritizes work while managing competing demands
• Support senior colleagues to identify needs, develop solutions, engage with stakeholders,. and implement those solutions

• B.A. or B.S. degree required
• Intermediate computer and database technology skills preferred; litigation support experience required
• Intermediate comprehension of litigation support application functionality, including an understanding of standard flat files such as:
o Concordance
o Summation
o Ringtail
• Must possess a basic ability to create structured data productions including images, text and native files, and flat load files
• Must possess a basic understanding of ESI conversion to structured data formats
• Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, and opportunities
• Contributes to the knowledge of team members through participation in team meetings and trainings; captures and shares lessons learned from previous project experiences
• Must be proactive in assessing and responding to the needs of a diverse user group
• Reports progress of assigned projects at regular intervals to all project stakeholders
• Assists with documentation of best practices
• Must be able to multi-task, respond to tight deadlines, and work overtime when necessary
• Prior experience in supporting a multi-office user group is a plus
• Must maintain a customer service orientation at all times
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain and translate technology concepts to lay terms
• Writes clearly, shows attention to detail when preparing communications, and complies with the style guide
• This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment. The ability to open file cabinets, lift files, bend, and stand on a stool may also be required.
