The Accountant should have experience in the areas of financial reporting, internal controls, analysis and accounting knowledge through professional and/or educational background. The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Accounting department in creating timely and accurate financial statements, performing journal entries, monthly reconciliations, financial analysis and providing special project support. The Accountant must be a self-starter who possesses the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial package. • prepare monthly data journal entries. • Acquire working knowledge of Elite (accounting software). • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including checking supporting documentation. • Assist with preparation of all surveys. • Assist with preparation of work papers for annual audit or financial statements. • Assist with special projects as required. • Support process improvement actions and teams. • Manage multiple assignments and can prioritize tasks effectively. • Abide by all policies, work procedures, instructions and confidentiality of all information. • Make logical assumptions, identify trends and analyze and communicate variance to management. • Ability to participate on teams as well as ability to build organizational relationships with peers. • Commitment to continuous learning and demonstrate a desire to advance and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities. • Record asset additions and disposals in Sage (fixed asset system). • Prepare monthly fixed asset rollforward. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED • 1-3 years of accounting experience with a computerized accounting system and responsibilities for special projects and assignments. • BS/BA in accounting or finance. • Must be detailed oriented and organized. • Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. • Must have solid experience with accounting systems and query tools. • Ability to work alone on daily routine assignments with minimum supervision. • Customer service orientation.
