The global law firm of K&L Gates is seeking a Sr. Citrix Engineer to join the Pittsburgh office. The Sr. Citrix Engineer is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the firm’s global Citrix environment and will handle day-to-day administrative Citrix tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to, Citrix server builds, Citrix configuration, application publishing, application patching, server patching, working with Citrix Group Policies, and utilizing Active Directory. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred.

 

Job Functions:

  • Provide systems administration, support and develop effectiveness and manageability of Citrix environment
  • Enterprise level Active Directory and Group Policy design
  • Responsible for and maintaining windows servers, including building and patching
  • Improving and adjusting the shared hosted and published application environments
  • Provide detailed documentation and KB articles to Global Service Desk (Help Desk)
  • Assist in system design and troubleshooting
  • Provide third-level operational support for escalated issues
  • Demonstrate diplomacy, teamwork, negotiation, collaboration, and creative problem solving
  • Implement and maintain standards and processes, including rollout, design, and support documentation
  • Monitor the infrastructure to identify existing and potential problems to determine root cause, take appropriate corrective actions, and escalate when necessary
  • Execute daily support functions and processes along with predetermined tasks and activities
  • Execute change requests as required
  • Utilize the firm’s incident and problem management system along with applicable application request processes
  • Identify inefficiencies, gaps or issues, and drive the analysis and documentation of technical requirements for enterprise Citrix XenApp architecture, guiding adoption of and adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Evaluate current operation processes and documentation, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements
  • Work with team members to streamline processes and perform standard administrative functions as needed
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with technology partners
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and products
  • Bring new ideas and methodologies to improve the department

 

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience working on mid to large scale Citrix operation
  • Experience with Citrix 7.15 or higher, 1912 LTSR is preferred
  • Experience deploying and configuring Citrix, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment from scratch
  • Experience upgrading a Citrix environment from one major revision to the next (ex: 6.x to 7.x)
  • Experience managing Citrix NetScaler appliances
  • Ability to create, manage, and deploy software installation packages through Citrix
  • Experience working with a large user environment (1,000+ users)
  • Knowledge of Xenapp and Xendesktop
  • Knowledge of VMware Vcenter/ESX
  • Knowledge of Windows 2016 and 2019 server
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Enterprise level Active Directory and Group Policy design experience
  • Desired certifications: CCA-V, CCP-V, CCA-N, CCP-N
  • Experience with SecureAuth and radius troubleshooting is a plus
  • Experience with Tenable and remediating vulnerabilities is a plus
  • Experience with an enterprise grade monitoring system (SCOM, ControlUp, Logrytym, etc.) is a plus
  • Ability to write scripts to improve performance, resolve issues and automate processes
  • Understanding of Windows Internals and system level debugging
  • Demonstrable experience with implementing and supporting Netscaler ADC (Gateway) for load balancing and ICA Proxy
  • Demonstrable experience with implementing and supporting IGEL thin client devices
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management, such as Microsoft Intune, Airwatch, XenMobile, or MaaS360 is a plus
  • Demonstrable experience automating complex routine tasks
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must possess a personal sense of urgency
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and adapt to changing business priorities
  • Ability to grasp new technology concepts quickly

 

Additional Abilities:

  • Ability to work on an On-Call rotation, support a 24/7 environment, and work flexible hours as needed
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as VBScript or Powershell is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, including registry and file management
  • Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
