The global law firm of K&L Gates LLP seeks a Senior Practice Assistant to join its Orange County office. The Senior Practice Assistant will be responsible for assisting lawyers in the commercial litigation and product liability practice groups. • Preparing, filing and serving pleadings and discovery
• Organizing and updating pleading books and indices
• Transcribing, preparing, editing, and finalizing pleadings and other legal documents
• Preparing motions, subpoenas, orders and other materials
• Preparing expense reports and check requests
• Opening files and conducting conflict checks
• Organizing and maintaining all correspondence and documents using the document management system
• Coordinating and preparing monthly client bills
• Coordinating entering, editing, and tracking daily time recording for assigned timekeepers
• Serving as a resource regarding court rules, document requirements and conference calls
• Administrative support to busy partners, including travel arrangements
• 5+ years of business/commercial litigation is preferred
• Experience supporting three or more partners at a large, multi-office law firm
• 5+ years of experience with filings and a strong knowledge of both State and Federal filings
• Ability to stay current with local court rules for the state and different counties
• Significant client-contact experience
• Familiarity with LexisNexis file and serve
• Advanced, working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, computerized calendaring systems and other programs applicable to handling complex litigation matters
• Experience with INTAPP is a plus
• Experience with client development and legal practice marketing is a plus
• Excellent organization, communication, and administrative skills
• Ability to multitask and change priorities efficiently and expeditiously in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgment
• Positive, professional attitude and willingness to work hard and proactively take on responsibility
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
