We are seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join the Pittsburgh office. Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of payroll for assigned region and deals with all matters and inquiries regarding payroll. Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent technical and communication skills as well as a commitment to providing the highest quality client service are strongly preferred.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Staff and lawyers; Finance, Human Resources, and IT teams

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Audit new hires by reviewing employee tax withholding information, verifying compensation, processing direct deposit, and ensuring an accurate first payment
• Review employee terminations, including final pay instructions, deductions, paid time off, and finalized timecard entry
• Analyze garnishment requests, including proper set up relating to each agency, reconciling deductions, and timely submission of the payment file to Accounts Payable
• Perform routine audits of the Time & Attendance system, including timecard entry and supervisory approvals
• Process employee Time & Attendance data and reconcile variances utilizing reporting tools in the Payroll and Time & Attendance systems
• Interface payroll data between PeopleSoft and Payroll systems and audit accordingly
• Review payroll to validate data entry that may include short term disability payments, other supplemental payments, banking information, and tax withholding changes
• Analyze and resolve discrepancies resulting from payroll review
• Research and resolve payroll inquiries

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
• Participate in cross-functional projects as needed
• Complete state-specific Department of Labor statistic reports
• Develop ad-hoc reports for payroll and/or time entry
• Liaise with Human Resources to complete verifications of employment
• Identify process improvements and efficiencies
• Obtain annual audit documentation from third-party vendor, which includes bridge letters, SOC1 reports for payroll and tax services, and the monthly payroll reconciliation

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

• Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Relevant payroll processing experience with a mid- to large-size company
• In-depth knowledge of transactional payroll processes and related administrative activities
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with many parties
• High customer service focus
• Problem-solving capabilities and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team
• Ability to work outside regular business hours to meet deadlines
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent work experience preferred
