We are searching for a Senior Manager, Lateral Partner Recruiting to join the firm. Primary responsibilities include managing and executing firm-wide and practice group specific lateral partner and associate [US offices only for associates?] recruiting and integration strategies; including development of orientation and integration programs; serving as primary point of contact with candidates; and managing candidate sourcing relationships to enable the positioning of K&L Gates as a firm of choice for top tier legal talent. Ensures the excellent and consistent delivery of hiring practices globally throughout the firm. Compensation $128,000 - $258,000 The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Global Development Partner, Managing Partners, Practice Area Leaders, Practice Group Coordinators, Legal Search Firms
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assist in the development and execution of lateral partner recruiting strategies, assist in identifying and determining future needs based on the firm’s strategic business goals and growth objectives; execute on same
• Manage all aspects of the hiring process, including engaging appropriate search firms; identifying partner candidates and appropriately vetting them; facilitating strategy meetings and calls with regional, office, and practice area/group leadership
• Serves as the primary point of contact for partner candidates and search firms throughout the hiring process
• Coordinate and manage in-office/video interview schedules for partner candidates and internal interviewers; distribute candidate materials; solicit feedback; draft documentation and memoranda where appropriate
• Collaborate with functional departments in the conflicts and due diligence process while maintaining all data in a confidential manner
• Collaborate with office and practice group leadership on offer process; provide market information with respect to competitive offers and packages
• Work with the firm’s Global Development Partner to ensure that partner voting complies with the firm’s Partnership Agreement and Lawyers’ Manual
• Work with office and practice group leadership to identify and assess hiring needs, considering availability of underutilized associates within the office and practice group
• Manage the intent to hire process, providing a thorough review and analysis of the need before submitting for approval
• Source candidates through Linked In, Leopard Solutions and job boards to identify and initiate contact with qualified candidates to discuss lateral opportunities
• Manage direct sourcing of qualified associate candidates, actively marketing the firm referral bonus policy seeking referrals for lateral associate openings
• Coordinate with legal recruiting team on interview scheduling, file maintenance, pre-employment offer and hiring process coordination, and orientation and on-boarding of lateral associate new hires
• Arranging, in conjunction with office and firm administrative teams, robust onboarding and orientation programs; draft and implement programs to ensure successful integration into firm, office and practice group; continue to serve as point of contact throughout integration process
• Deveop and maintain strong relationships with legal search consultants and search firms, leveraging their market intelligence for the benefit of the firm, review and negotiate fee proposals and service agreements
• Monitor local markets and stay informed of current market trends and law firm industry news
• Analyze data and reports on metrics for lateral hiring processes
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Advanced recruiting experience required; a minimum of 10 years in the legal services or related industry
• Exceptional organizational skills to manage time, prioritize and handle multiple deadlines, as well as well-developed and professional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with and interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
• Ability to develop an understanding of the firm’s various practice areas
• Ability to perceive and analyze complex problems, and ability to make or recommend sound decisions
• Ability to use independent judgment and discretion when making decisions
• Able to maintain confidences at all times
• Highly motivated, creative, flexible, results-oriented and the ability to work independently under pressure with demanding deadlines
• Proven ability to persuade and influence professionals to try new approaches and drive progress
• Strong organizational, administrative, and word processing skills
• Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and Outlook
• Proficiency with applicant data tracking software, preferably PeopleSoft
• Experience in working with legal search firms; facilitating and negotiating lateral placement agreements
• Previous experience within a law firm, partnership, or other professional services environment
• Experience in managing one or more professionals in junior role
ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Frequent computer use at workstation up to eight hours at a time
• Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
• Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines
• This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment. The ability to open file cabinets, lift files, bend and stand on a stool may also be required.
